YWCA Presents Holiday Survival Kit

Dr. Doreen Larson will present "Your Holiday Survival Kit" at the YWCA Monthly Luncheon Series on November 8 beginning at 11 a.m. The program, which is free and open to the public, will be followed by a noon luncheon ($6/person).

"Thanksgiving, Christmas and the related Holiday events can overwhelm both individuals and families," said Larson. "I will share some basics to understanding the psychological roots of Holiday stress and provide some easy steps to offset those Holiday stressors and more fully enjoy family, friends and food!" she continued.

Dr. Larson is the fifth President of Edison State Community College and the first female president of the college. She holds a PhD in Special Education from Kent State University, an M.A. in Education from John Carroll University and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor's in Special Education. She was inducted into the Mayfield High School Hall of Fame in recognition of her lifelong commitment to increasing access to education for minorities and people with disabilities. For the third year in a row, the Dayton Business Journal named Dr. Larson one of the region's "50 Most Powerful Women" for 2017.

"Everyone in attendance at the November 8 luncheon will come away with ideas to destress and enjoy the Holidays," said Beth Royer-DeLong, YWCA Program Director. "Dr. Larson has many suggestions and easy steps to be able to relax and have fun with family and friends," Royer-DeLong added.

Reservations for the luncheon must be made by Monday, November 6, by calling the YWCA at 773-6626. The YWCA is handicap accessible.

A UVMC nurse will also be available from 10:15-11 a.m. for free blood pressure and glucose screenings.
